Hiya, Karen! Welcome to planDisney. It's so great to meet you! I'm delighted that you're planning a trip to
Walt Disney World Resort next month - there's nowhere better to celebrate the holidays. You and your mom are going to have the most magical time, and I'm happy to help with some tips to enjoy the theme parks while using oxygen.
As a nurse, I've had lots of conversations over the years with patients and families about navigating The Most Magical Place on Earth with all varieties of medical needs. Disney makes its resorts and theme parks really accessible, which I very much appreciate! Oxygen tanks on wheels are allowed in the park. There may be some instances where a tank is not allowed on a particular ride for safety reasons, but there are plenty of lower-intensity attractions, shows, and more where you can keep the fun rolling.
If your mom's tanks run on an electric battery, I recommend bringing a few extras. If you need a charge while in the parks, you can ask a Cast Member to assist with finding a convenient outlet. You can also stop by the
First Aid centers located in all four theme parks - they are a great place to rest, and can help out with most minor health needs so you don't miss a moment of your Disney day!
Another option would be to rent a portable concentrator for the trip if your mother is able to use one. There are many companies in the Orlando area that provide this service that you can research online.
Karen, I hope that and your mom have a wonderful time together on your vacation. I am sure it will be a time that you both treasure! Thank you so much for visiting planDisney, and don't hesitate to come see us again if we can help with other questions for a practically perfect trip.
See Ya Real Soon!
