Going to WDW in mid december and have stayed at port orleans french and caribbean beach several years ago. Most recently stayed at a value resort and found it to be less convienent and frenzied. What moderated resort would you reccomend for boys 3/9?

Hi Nancy!  If you are looking to try something different then I would suggest the Coronado Springs resort. This resort has just finished with their room refurbishment and all rooms now have queen beds and flat screen tvs.  The grounds are expansive so be aware of that if you want to request a room that is closer to the lobby areas and the main bus stop.  The amenities are similar to the other moderate resorts and there are several pools located around the resort property with the main one having the water slide etc.

Another fun experience you might want to consider is a vacation at Fort Wilderness.  You can reserve one of the many cabins and enjoy a week in a place where many guests never even visit.  The cabins have one bedroom and one bath with bunkbeds and a double bed plus a murphy bed in the living area. They come with complete full kitchens, two tv's and DVD/vcr in the living area.  There is also a grill on the deck and two general stores to purchase extra food staples and charcoal etc.  I have used gardengrocer.com to deliver all my grocery needs when staying in this location and it does save some extra money being able to have lunch and breakfast items at your fingertips!

Fort Wilderness is full of fun including two pools, pony rides, horseback rides, the Disney stables, full watercraft rentals, Segway adventures, archery, canoes and kayaks, nightly movies and campfires, carriage rides, and much more.  The wonderful Hoop De Doo and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue dinner shows are also located here!
