Erin from MS Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Going to WDW in May and staying at Pop Century. We don’t plan to buy magic bands because we heard you could use a card that they offer for free and just wear it on a lanyard around your neck. What is this card? What all will it do? Thanks!

Welcome, Erin! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth is almost here. How exciting!

Disney's Pop Century Resort is one of my favorite resort hotels. I love its proximity to the Disney Skyliner and how easy it is to soar to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Be sure to take a dip in the Hippy Dippy Pool and pop around to see the groovy decor! I also love taking walks near Hourglass Lake and enjoying the serene view. It is the perfect place to relax after a long day in the theme parks. I hope you enjoy it, Erin!

You can request a Key to the World card at the front desk of your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel or Guest Relations at one of the theme parks. These are not handed out automatically and, even if you use online check-in in the My Disney Experience app, you will need to request one in person. The Key to the World card can be used as your room key, Disney theme park admission ticket, and at Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane return times. You can also use the card to link pictures from Disney PhotoPass photographers and attraction photos to your Disney account.

Erin, while you can use the card for all those things, the Magic Band+ is awesome as it automatically captures attraction photos on some of my favorite rides in the parks like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the Haunted Mansion. The convenience of not having to stop and scan my card for photos is really cool technology! Smartphones can also be used similarly to the physical card and Magic Band+ so you have several great options!

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to stop back by anytime!

    Have a magical stay,
    Melissa
