Hi! We're going to WDW in May for the first time with an 18-month old. We like the look (and price) of Coronado Springs but wonder if the location of Contemporary would be better for a kid that age. Is the monorail that big of a timesaver to warrant $?

    Hi Erika!

How exciting!  Your first trip to Walt Disney World is sure to be magical.

If budget allows, splurge for a Monorail Resort.  The convenience of location is a huge plus, especially for families with young children.  From Disney's Contemporary Resort, you can access the Magic Kingdom by Resort Monorail, ferry boat or by the walkway.  You can also get to Epcot by taking the Resort Monorail and then transfer to the Epcot Monorail at the Transportation and Ticket Center.  All other destinations are accessible by Disney bus.  A major perk is being able to quickly get back to your Resort for a nap or some down time away from the parks.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is my favorite moderate.  The grounds are beautiful, especially the walkway around the water.  My kids love The Lost City of Cibola Pool.  There is also a nearby kiddie pool for the younger Guests.  Disney bus transportation will take you anywhere you'd like to go at Walt Disney World, but you'll need to budget extra travel time.  Bus transportation can also be a little inconvenient if your child has fallen asleep since strollers have to be folded on the bus.

    Have a magical day!
