We are going to WDW for Mardi Gras Week. We have never been. I have a granddaughter "7" and a granson "4". All they like to eat is PB&J. Should I get on a dining plan and what character dining should be seek out?

    Hi Colleen!

Isn't Mardi Gras break the greatest thing?  Where else in the country do our kids get out of school for a whole week just to party?  The great thing about going at this time is that the weather is absolutely gorgeous and the crowds aren't too bad.  Look for everyone wearing their Purple, Green and Gold on Mardi Gras day - you will probably see someone you know.  During my last Mardi Gras trip to WDW, we saw four different families that we knew!

So, you have a couple of picky eaters too?  Don't worry, I think most kids that age will turn up their noses at just about anything with more than two ingredients!  The great news is that Smuckers Peanut Butter and Jelly Uncrustables are sold throughout all of Walt Disney World.  Also, most all restaurants have good old classics like chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese.  I may get some dirty looks, but if your grandkids don't eat that much, I don't recommend the dining plan for your family.  If all they want is a simple PB&J, I think you will come out better without the plan.

OK, one of my favorite topics - Character meals!  For your crew, I recommend Chef Mickey's found in the Contemporary Resort.  Not only are they open for breakfast and dinner, but the food is great!  Chef Mickey, Chip, Dale and Chef Goofy parade around the room and have a ball with everyone.  Since you are leaving soon, you need to make your Advanced Dining Reservations as soon as you get a chance!

Be sure to ask for a "1st Visit" button for everyone when you get to Disney World.  Have a wonderful time Colleen!
