Hi Lydia!
Great choice on staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Be ready to immerse yourself in the African-enthused landscape and architecture, topped with varieties of African animals on the savannah right outside!
On the Disney Dining Plan, you are basically entitled to whatever classifies as a snack, entree, appetizer (if you have the Deluxe plan), or dessert. Disney is great at supplying menus that clearly identify what it is exactly that you can eat under the Dining Plan, and the hosts are very knowledgeable on what's covered.
So, let's say you enter a restaurant covered under the Disney Dining Plan, you have the Basic Dining Plan (which entitles you to entrees), if the meal is listed under entree, you're entitled to it! Even if the prices are different or more expensive than others, most entrees at restaurants that take the Disney Dining Plan are covered.
The same with desserts and drinks (non-alcoholic unless you add the Wine option). If you ever have a question, though, any of the hosts or hostesses will be more than happy to answer your questions.
What constitutes as a snack, however, can sometimes get confusing. You may want to familiarize yourself with how Disney defines snacks by looking at your appropriate meal plan (click
here to go to the Dining Plan page, then click on the Dining Plan you're interested in over to the right).
So have fun. And bring your appetite! :-)
