When is wdw least crowded in december and january?

    Hi Dorina,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel as you plan your trip to Walt Disney World!

While I don't have the powers of prediction to say for certain when the fewest number of Guests will visit Walt Disney World in December and January, I can offer some tips that I hope will be helpful.

Let me start with what will likely be an obvious point. In general, you can expect lots of Guests at Walt Disney World in the second half of December and start of January to celebrate the holidays and enjoy all the magic of the season at each of the theme parks and all around the Resort. I'll also note — again, in general — that the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in the second week of January attracts lots of Guests, as does the long holiday weekend that includes Martin Luther King Jr. Day. So, generally speaking, I'd see early December and late January as offering a time when at least a fewer Guests are visiting.

When it comes to planning a visit to Walt Disney World, I always encourage a few tips that I think can help make a trip more enjoyable even if you are visiting along with lots of other Guests. I always suggest staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel for the benefits and perks, including easier transportation and the Extra Magic Hours. I also always suggest purchasing theme park tickets well in advance of your trip so that you can make FastPass+ selections. Guests with theme park tickets staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can make FastPass+ selections up to 60 days before check-in day. All Guests with theme park tickets can make selections 30 days before they arrive.

Dorina, here's wishing you a magical stay.

    Enjoy your Disney!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
