We are going to WDW in July for my son's 7th birthday. For a special dinner, we are thinking of the Whispering Canyon, which sounds fun -- but is there a better option that would be entertaining and fun for us? Many thanks!

I think the Whispering Canyon Cafe'  is an excellent choice for your son’s birthday. This is a fun place for a 7 year old. When you arrive for your dinner, your son can play at the Lincoln Logs table while waiting to be seated. Kids get crayons in a tin cup and a colorful puzzle sheet while waiting for their chow. This restaurant is a hoot-hollerin’ good time.

Make sure you notify the Cast Member at the podium of your celebration. The special Whispering Canyon choir may serenade the birthday boy. Cast Members might surprise your family with other birthday antics as well.

Kids will be invited to get a stick pony for the pony express ride around the restaurant. Other guests will twirl napkins and yell “yee-haw” while kids gallop around the room. Pony riders will be given three hilarious rules before setting off on the trail.

After the riders are done, they’ll be called to the front of the restaurant where they will be asked to take an oath of sorts. The promises they make are a hoot for kids and adults. The kids will then march and get Pony Express certificates as a keepsake.

The servers wear plaid skirts and brown pants. Green shirts with bandannas around their necks complete their western attire.

After cooling yer heels, explore the Wilderness Lodge. You can sit by the fire or in the cozy chairs situated all around the lobby. You’ll want to explore the pool and beach area. Watch the geyser that erupts hourly to see Disney’s version of Old Faithful. The walk to the boat dock is very pretty. You could also catch the boat to the Magic Kingdom as a fun way to end your adventure in the wilderness.

We have dined here many times for breakfast and look forward to dinner at the Whispering Canyon Café in June.

I hope your birthday buckaroo has a great time!
