I will be at WDW January 11 - 18th with a 2 year old and a 5 year old. We love utilizing the pools when we are vacationing but have never been to Florida this time of year. Can we plan to use the pool or will it be just to cold to open the pools?

We have traveled to Walt Disney World in January numerous times. The weather has ranged from very hot and humid to so freezing cold that we had to bundle in hats, jackets and gloves. Usually, it's somewhere in between!

Pools are open and heated year-round, usually to 82 degrees.

From my experience, most kids will want to swim. We've taken our son swimming when the air temp was in the 60s and the lifeguards were huddled in blankets. Unless it's freezing outside, swimming is definitely a fun option. Wait until the afternoon when the sun is hotter and the pools have warmed up even more.

I'm monitoring the weather for Florida for our upcoming trip as well. I usually check out the 15 day forecasts at www.accuweather.com. I plan for pool time on warmer afternoons. Right now, our dates range from high temperatures of 76 to 58 and lows in the 30s to 50s. It's that wide range of temperatures that makes packing just a bit more difficult this time of year. But the low crowds are a tremendous bonus!

January travelers will want to bring layers of clothes. Mornings and evenings are usually colder, often requiring a jacket.
