We will be at WDW in January 2025 for the run Disney marathon weekend. Will there still be Christmas decorations and events happening then? Thank you!

Welcome to planDisney, Cindy! And welcome to runDisney, too! I am so excited you will be lacing up your sneakers and running with us.

First, congratulations on registering. The bibs for runDisney Marathon Weekend 2025 went more quickly than the Boston Marathon winners earlier this week. It is so much fun! Starting January with such an accomplishment, you are putting your best foot forward and running right into a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Like you, I love the holiday decorations and all the magic at Walt Disney World to celebrate the season. At the Marathon Weekend this past year, some decorations were still on display, warming my heart. The magnificent trees were still twinkling brightly in Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The parks and some resorts had festooning and wreaths adorning the entries, walkways and windows.

Typically, no official schedule is released to let us know when the decorations are going to be put away until the season comes around again. The way the calendar falls, I am hopeful, but not overly confident, about what decorations will be there. This year, Marathon Weekend was January 3-7. Next year's event will be January 8-12. On the heels of Leap Year, the New Year's celebrations will be on the first weekend of the year and runDisney will be on the second weekend. As I said, I am still hopeful for festive touches at the Most Magical Place to Race.

This past runDisney Marathon Weekend, I was also thrilled to find some of my favorite seasonal treats were available. The gingerbread Mickey Mouse cookies at the Main Street Confectionary hold a special place in my heart. The Kernel Kitchen also had a holiday mix, with white chocolate and peppermint on top of different popcorn flavors. It was festive, fun and tasty!

I hope your training goes well and planning for your trip to Walt Disney World is a breeze. Please come back to planDisney as you race forward in your planning.

    Every Mile is Magic!
