Going to WDW in January 09, have 2 boys 4 & 2. Want to do 4 char. meals. Chef mickey, crystal place, donal'ds safari, and playhouse disney. Any suggestions or tips (times, seating, etc.) Would you do breakfast or dinner at chef mickey's?

I would schedule your meals in a way that least interferes with your touring schedule.

For example, make your Donald's Safari breakfast for the first seating (about 8:05 a.m.) on a non-Extra Magic Hour morning. You'll be finishing your meal about 9 a.m. just as the park opens. Get in line for the safari ride after breakfast. This plan worked very well for us in June and should work even better in January with less crowds.

Can you go to Chef Mickey's for dinner on the night of your arrival? If not, breakfast on the day of your departure works nicely too. Again, I'm suggesting that you plan your meals to allow for maximum touring time (especially in the mornings) and also allow you to take a mid-day break back at your hotel.

For Playhouse Disney, again I would use the same strategy as for the breakfast with Donald at the Animal Kingdom. Enter Hollywood Studies for an early breakfast prior to park opening or schedule a late breakfast and call it brunch! A late breakfast (ask for the last seating) allows you to take advantage of the pleasant mornings for touring and then enjoy your meal.

Crystal Palace works well for breakfast prior to the park opening, or have lunch prior to exiting the park for a rest back at your resort.

I'm currently making plans for a January trip too!
