Hi Evelyn!
Wow! I LOVE hearing from Guests like you with ambitious plans to see and experience as much as possible at Walt Disney World!
Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great experience. It's definitely worthwhile to book a Savannah View Room. On our first stay at AKL we stayed 2 nights also and chose the Savannah View Bunk Bed room. The views of the animals, especially in the morning, were amazing!
As far as Moderate resorts, my #1 choice is Port Orleans French Quarter. It's a smaller resort, making transportation and dining less busy than many of the larger properties. The beignets are a heavenly treat in the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory and the boat transportation down the Sassagoula River to Downtown Disney is a fun bonus! The Doubloon Lagoon pool and Mardi Gras dragon water slide add to the fun at this "hidden gem" resort.
An alternate consideration for a moderate resort would be the Port Orleans Riverside Resort, adjacent to the French Quarter. Since you mention that your children are both girls, you may enjoy the brand new Royal Guest Rooms, fit for Princesses of any age! View them on the 'Rooms' tab of the
Port Orleans Resort - Riverside page.
At the Deluxe Level, you can't go wrong with Disney's Polynesian Resort. With the monorail running right past the lobby doors, Volcano pool with water slide, numerous dining options, marina and even a white sand beach from which both the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom and Electrical Water Pageant may be viewed ... it's like a little slice of heaven right here on earth!
Wishing you a Magical time deciding upon which amazing resorts to divide your stay between Evelyn!
Have a wonderful vacation!
