WDW the first week of April 2008, I am trying to decide if taking a umbrella stroller would be a good idea? My son is 3 and a half and loves to walk with us on hikes and such, but I just wonder if Disney will be a lot of walking for him?

    Bridget,
I would absolutely bring your umbrella stroller. The first time that our son did not use his umbrella stroller was the year he had just turned 6 (and he was tall for his age and barely fit in it).

WDW is a lot of walking even for athletic adults. The stroller is also a good place for your son to sit and take a break while you are reviewing your park map, waiting for a parade or finishing up a counter service meal.

Our son never slept in his stroller (unfortunately not even when he was a baby) but for kids that need a rest it’s a nice place to feel secure. Our son did have low stamina issues (due to being premature) but most families that I know with 3 year olds still appreciate the stroller. By the time our son was 5, we were using the stroller more as a "bag cart" than a kid-mobile but we still had it for when he was tired. We still laugh about the time that we walked by a Cast Member while pushing our bags and he gave us the thumbs up sign.

We found the umbrella stroller to be very helpful, especially at night when returning to the hotel room or when walking around World Showcase. And it doesn't take up very much room. You could always leave it at the hotel in the mornings and then maybe just use it for night time touring. Do what works best for your family.

They grow up so fast anyhow. Now, we have a hard time keeping up with our son!
