We are going to WDW 12/19/14-the first time my husband and daughter have been to during Christmas. My husband will be 2 weeks removed from his last dose of chemo so his energy will be limited. Can you recommend some things to do and see at a slower pace?

    Hi there, Amanda!

I'm thrilled to hear that your family is visiting the Walt Disney World Resort during such a magnificent time of the year. The Parks and Resorts are all dressed up in their holiday best; so gorgeous and the most perfect way to spend time together as a family after dealing with a tough situation like your husband's.

I love to take things at a slower pace during the holidays because I don't want to miss any of the gorgeous details. The Parks tend to be pretty busy during the last couple weeks of December so we will typically just enjoy the Attractions that we have made FastPass+ selections for.

One of my very favorite things to do is to take the monorail from Magic Kingdom Park over to Disney's Contemporary Resort to see the gingerbread Christmas tree, then over Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and finally over to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to see the life-sized gingerbread house. We've often purchased a piece of gingerbread and pulled up a comfy chair right there in the lobby just to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Each one of the Resorts on Walt Disney World property has their own unique holiday decorations, including their own Christmas tree and one is more gorgeous than the next.

Another favorite of my family's is to go to Magic Kingdom Park and stay right on Main Street, U.S.A. The sights and sounds of the holidays in this Park are so magical that it takes my breath away. We'll ever-so-slowly walk toward Cinderella Castle and sit down on a bench as the sun goes down. Soon after dusk, the Castle will light up with Dream Lights and we like to watch as they change color. It's so beautiful that I feel like I could stay in that very spot forever!

I'm out of room for this answer, but I'd love to help you with some more ideas. Please don't hesitate to write back in with more questions, Amanda!

Wishing you and your family a Pixie Dusted vacation!
