We will be going to WDW for the first time should we book in side the park and which resorts are better for a family of 2 adults and 8yr old girl that also wants to have breakfast with the characters?

I highly recommend staying inside Walt Disney World, especially when traveling there for the first time. You’ll be able to immerse your family in the magic around the clock.

Your options for a resort are tremendous for a family of 3. We are also a couple with an only child. The resort you pick will first depend on your accommodations budget.

I would suggest Pop Century if staying in the value category. Your daughter would probably enjoy the Hippy Dippy pool.

In the moderate category, I would suggest Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside. Coronado Springs is a bit large for a first visit. The parks alone might be exhausting so you should keep things more relaxing for your “home” base. The pool at Caribbean Beach will be going through a rehab during your stay so I would not recommend that particular resort.

In the deluxe category, I would recommend the Grand Floridian which offers many fun activities for girls although at an extra cost. Afternoon tea at the Garden View Lounge isn’t too over the top and would be a nice mother-daughter activity. Just staying at this resort would make any girl feel like a princess. I can also highly recommend the Polynesian and Beach Club. If your daughter likes animals, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is wonderful too.

I hope this gives you a bit of a start in helping to break down your choices. For a character meal, you should look at the princess-themed restaurants.
