We come to WDW every August and stay at the Poly. This year we are thinking about staying at the Wilderness. Kids are ages 10 and 8. We do love the pool, beach and monoral at the Poly. Would you recommend trying the WL or sticking to the Poly?

    Hi Jennifer!

Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel!

I agree with you that Disney's Polynesian Resort is beautiful.  All the Disney Resorts have wonderful theming, and it is nice to stay at different resorts.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge is my favourite resort.  We have been taking our son there since he was three years' old, and he still loves it now he is a teenager.  I think it's the perfect retreat for everyone. The pool area is lovely, and looks like it is carved out of the rocks - I am sure your children would love it!  The gardens, the beach, the view over Bay Lake - they are all stunning - and wait until you see the lobby!  It took my breath away the first time I saw it (and still does).  There are great dining choices too - fun to be had for families at the Whispering Canyon Cafe, and the quick service restaurant Roaring Fork.  There are many places to explore, and many more little hidden areas in which to relax and watch the world go by.  I have always found the Disney Transport to/from this resort to be absolutely fine.  Although not on the monorail link, there is a short boat ride to the Magic Kingdom - which is so easy, and again such fun for children.  You can also take a boat to Disney's Contemporary Resort (you might have a dining reservation there - Chef Mickey's is one that we always enjoy at that resort), and there is another boat to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.  A bus will take you directly to all the other theme parks and water parks, and to the other resorts via Downtown Disney.  There are many wonderful resorts, and everyone has their favourite.

If I can help you further, please send me another question as I am limited for space here.  I would be very happy to help you make decisions for your magical vacation!
