We have been to WDW dozens of times, and are trying DL for the first time. What differences should I expect (besides size) between the two parks? What attractions are a must that DL has that we won't see in DW? Is stroller rental the same? dinning plan?

Trying to compare Disneyland (DL) to Disney World (WDW) is like comparing apples to oranges, There are numerous differences between the two resorts but many similarities as well.  Each property stands to serve a unique purpose, and I appreciate them both for different reasons.  It is when I try to start comparing WDW to DL that I run into problems!  One of the first things you'll notice about DL is that it is very compact compared to WDW and everything is conveniently located relatively close together.  You will not have to make any plans for major travel or transportation between the parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney because everything is located nearby.

Although DL and WDW overlap on several attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, it's a small world, Haunted Mansion, among many others, I want to encourage you to experience them at DL anyway.  You 'll enjoy pointing out the unique differences between the two and some folks actually prefer a few DL attractions over their WDW counterparts.

You will love the DL exclusive attractions including a few of my favorites: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and Indiana Jones at Disneyland Park; and Goofy's Sky School, Ariel's Undersea Adventure, California Screamin', and World of Color at California Adventure, to name a few.

Stroller rentals are available just outside the main entrance to the parks and I prefer DL's strollers to those offered at WDW.  The strollers cannot be taken beyond the main entrance so if you're looking for a little more flexibility, I recommend renting from an outside company such as CityStrollerRentals.com.

DL does have a dining plan of sorts, but it is not the same as WDW's version. Disneyland's Dining Plan just enables you to conveniently pay for your meals using vouchers.
