We are going to be at WDW in Dec. 2009 We would like to go horseback Riding. I can t find a price on it. And how far in advance can we book it. Also is there a tour of the horses included in this or is that extra. Thanks Luanne

Hi Luanne!  I am planning a visit in May and also wishing to do a little horseback trail ride with my daughter.

You can book a 45 minute ride at the Tri Circle D stables at Fort Wilderness 90 days out from your arrival date.  The latest price I was able to get was $42 per person but that might have changed. It will give you a close idea.  Riders must be at least 9 years of age and 48 inches tall with a weight limit of no more then 250 pounds. It is a slow walking ride but a lot of fun as you see areas that most others never will.  They suggest long pants and closed toe shoes.

Pony rides are available also for children 2-8 years old and weighing no more then 80 pounds.  This cost is $4.

The stable is home to all of the Walt Disney World horses.  Depending on the work being done that day at the stable,  you can walk in and say hello to your favorite horse and pony.  It is fun to then see them in the parades knowing you had gotten up close and personal. There is no charge for this.  Also don't forget to visit the Blacksmith Shop where you just might find one of the big animals being fitted with the special horseshoes needed  to protect their hooves.

    Happy trails!
