One of my favorite aspects of
the new Genie feature on the
My Disney Experience Mobile App is its flexibility. While purchasing Genie+ is advantageous when you want to maximize the number of attractions you experience, I can see skipping it on days when I plan to enjoy the theme parks at a slower pace, sit down for a table-service meal or two, or spend a few hours at my resort pool. Fortunately,
you do not need to add Genie+ for the duration of your ticket. Buying it one day at a time is simple and will save you money by not purchasing it for the length of stay.
On a day you would like to purchase Genie+, open the
My Disney Experience Mobile App and click on the three small horizontal lines in the bottom right corner of the main page to bring up the welcome screen. Next, select the magic lamp icon that says "My Day." Find a purple bar that says "Get Genie+ Service," then follow the prompts to select your party members and finalize payment. You can do this as early as midnight of the day you'd like to purchase Genie+, but since you can't make your first Lightning Lane selection until 7 AM, I suggest taking care of this over breakfast before heading out for the day.
