We are going to WDW in just 26 days! I know everyone suggests dressing in layers, great idea. I'm wondering though, what do you do with all the layers you're not wearing? For a family of 5, that can be a lot of extra stuff to carry in the parks all day!

    Erin:

January and February do bring unpredictable weather to Disney: one day it's sunny and 70 degrees and the next day it's in the upper 30s or low 40s with a windchill that can come across the water at night and make you think you're vacationing in Chicago.

Typically, though, our family finds ourselves taking a light jacket to the parks, sometimes layered with a long-sleeve t-shirt over a short-sleeved one. As lunch arrives the jackets are tied around our waists. Only rarely do we need to strip down to the short-sleeves to be comfortable, but even then, the long-sleeves can also be tied around the waist or stuffed in a backpack. If rain is in the forecast, you'll find us strapping a fanny-pack around everyone to carry their own ponchos. Once we graduated from having a stroller to not only carry our littlest guy but also all of our gear, a backpack could get really heavy toting six plastic ponchos.

My 17-year-old just agreed that fanny packs are coming back into fashion, so let everyone share the load.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
