Going to WDW 6days in Jan2010. Wondering the best places to take 2 girls 2&6 for dinner. Have some character dining planned. Buying the DDP. Is it good at all resaurants, including Downtown Disney and Boardwalk?

    Kris:

When it comes to Character Dining, ask which characters the girls know and enjoy.  If they're like most girls their age, they'll probably enjoy a few meals with the princesses and one with Mickey.  A few of my favorites:

    • 1900 Park Fare:  Dine with BOTH Cinderella and Prince Charming, plus the wicked stepsisters.  (Cinderella is only featured in the lobby for dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, so this may be a better fit.)
    • Akershus:  Want more princesses?  How about Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, or Mary Poppins?  The best part of dinner is that you'll receive a photo with Belle for free.  The food is a little more adventurous than some, but for one dining credit, the experience is worth it.
    • Chef Mickey's:  This popular restaurant features Mickey and all the gang.  Many folks go at breakfast for the Mickey waffles, but forget he's still here for dinner!
    • Garden Grill:  Mickey dons his overalls for some country cookin'!  Plus, Chip 'n' Dale make the rounds.  The meal is served family-style and there's plenty to eat.
    • Crystal Palace:  Pooh and friends come out to play here.  But the best part is the buffet!  It's one of the freshest on property.

The Disney Dining Plan is good for all Character Dining Meals except the one at The Swan hotel.  As for other restaurants, it's best to refer to the Dining Plan for 2010 here.  (I've noticed it is missing a few restaurants when compared to the 2009 Plan.  However, last year I noticed the same thing: restaurants not operated by Disney were not included until a revised dining plan released closer to the first of the year.)

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
