Hello, Aimee. Thanks for stopping by
planDisney with your question. I see that your trip is quickly approaching, I bet you are getting so excited!
Aimee, I was actually at Walt Disney World the day the face coverings policy changed, and was able to enjoy walking around the parks for several days without having to wear one from attraction to attraction. It was so nice to be able to purchase a beverage and freely walk about while drinking it. The temperatures were pretty warm those few days and it was so nice not having something over my face 100% of the time. It definitely made standing in line with one on much more doable for me. While I was there, the relaxation stations were still open and operating like they have been this past year. We here at planDisney have not received any official word as to if and when these might be phased out. I suggest keeping an eye over on the
Disney Parks Blog for more information about changes coming to the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. It's just my opinion but I can't see these zones sticking around for much longer. There isn't a need for a designated space to take your face covering off anymore since you are able to, if you feel comfortable, anywhere outside at one of the
Walt Disney World Theme Parks. Prior to relaxation stations and the whole pandemic, Guests could sit down and relax on benches, street curbs, tables with umbrellas outside and even rest inside at quick-service dining locations. I think ultimately things will revert closely back to that. If a Guest doesn't feel comfortable walking around without a face covering, there is still plenty of outdoor space to be physically distant from others to remove face coverings for a break and to eat and drink without having to be right on top of other people. I think the use of the relaxation stations will greatly decrease and we will see them disappear in the near future. Again, I don't have any official word on that and this is solely just my opinion at this point.
Aimee, I hope you have such a great time visiting Walt Disney World. If you have any other questions before your trip, please feel free to come back and
ask me. I'm happy to help.
Have fun!
