We are going to be in WDW 12-12 through 12 -18 with 3 boys ages 1,3 and 6 and are so excited!! We have the DDP and are desperately trying to get reservations at Chef Mickey. Is checking daily online for an opening just as effective as calling WDW daily?

    Hi Temple!

My sister in law (and fellow Disney fanatic!!!) is also named Temple - what a "small world."   Chef Mickey's is such a sentimental favorite for our family, all three of my boys request this character meal EVERY time we visit.  Back in the day, my phone bill would always reflect the huge number of times that I dialed 1-407-WDW-DINE, trying to snag that special meal!  Nowadays, I LOVE the new online system for both the money and time that it saves me.  I hate to ask you to get up early, but the online system becomes available for the current day at 6:00 AM Eastern Standard Time.  This a full hour earlier than the phone lines!!!!    I would advise checking right at 6:00 AM each day, as this is when the cancellations, if any, will be reflected.

If you still haven't gotten that coveted Advance Dining Reservation by the time you leave, don't despair!  Ask a Cast Member at your resort (Hint: you don't have to be staying in a concierge room to use their services!!!) if they can assist you.  Also, try to call once you get there.  Unfortunately, most cancellations happen within the last few days beforehand.  If all else fails, you can also head over to the Contemporary Resort and attempt to be seated without a reservation.  Obviously, this is the worst case scenario, but it may work!

Another great option that I think that your boys would adore, is Donald's Safari Breakfast in Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom.  Mickey and the Gang are all here and the theming is even BETTER than Chef Mickey's.  In fact, I might even recommend this meal over Chef Mickey's!!!!

    Much pixie dust,
