Hi Jessica!
Disney is the perfect place for birthday celebrations!
Here are some things to consider to make his experience a little extra special:
At any of the Disney Parks (and also should be at the resorts), make sure you get him a free "Happy Birthday!" pin at Guest Services. You can put his name on it, and the Cast Members immediately recognize these pins, as he gets extra "Happy Birthday's" given to him throughout Disney World premises.
At any of the table service (AKA sit-down restaurants) on the day of his birthday, make sure to tell the host or hostess (before being seated) that today is his birthday. Although not required, a number of restaurants have been known to do something a little extra for birthday guests such as a give a small dessert at the end of the meal, or maybe even confetti at the table.
If you want to go all out, you can order a Specialty Cake and have it sent to to one of the table service restaurants. You can call 407-827-2253 for more details.
At the World of Disney in Downtown Disney, they sell these large Mad Hatter Birthday Cake hats one can purchase. Another addition to making his day extra special as he wears this hat throughout Disney.
What would really knock their socks off would be an In-Room celebration. This is where magical fairies (i.e. Disney Florist Cast Members) will come in your room at a time when you are away and decorate the room. There are all types of nice themes that could pleasantly surprise your friend and son. The
Disney Florist site is a great source to get more information on this.
Otherwise, treat the entire experience as one, big celebration! May you and your loved one's have a magical time!
