We are going to WDW on August 22nd. My DD wants to purchase her school backpack and supplies there. Do you know if they will have backpacks available as well as other school supplies. I understand that FL schools start early and we don't start till Sept

    Hi Deirdre!

I like the way your daughter thinks! I am a big kid at heart and I have a Mickey backpack that I carry around all the time that I got from Disney World!

I am not sure how old your daughter is or what type of supplies will be required by her school or teachers.  You can purchase Disney backpacks but I know that some schools have guidelines about what types of backpacks are allowed. Some trips I've seen a bigger selection than other trips and sometimes most (not all) of the selection is geared towards younger Guests). I've also seen pens, pencils, pencil boxes, erasers, rulers, spiral notebooks, markers and crayons in the stores. The World of Disney at Downtown Disney has a lot of these things.

From the experience I've had with my boys going to school, I don't think you'll be able to find everything she'll need on her list. I also know how quickly the cost of school supplies can add up. You may suggest to her that she can look for her backpack at Disney World (if you think it will meet school regulations) and some fun pencils and pencil box there but she may have more fun buying other souvenEARs at Disney and getting school supplies back home.  That way she'll understand they won't have everything and won't be disappointed she can't do all of her shopping there.

You could also take a look at www.DisneyStore.com.  They now offer some Theme Park Authentic Merchandise.  You could look through it and get an idea of a few of the things they offer.  As a Mom outside the Disney Parks Moms Panel too, I'd plan on doing most of my back-to-school shopping at home and picking up a few fun things at Disney World.

Please feel free to keep the questions coming. We're hEAR to help!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
