We will be at wdw aug 16-23, and wondering on the crowds. It is off peak, but still Aug. Just tryiing to plan activities to keep the kids entertained in lines and wondering how many hand held activities I need to pack for them. Thanks alot.

    Hi Lisa,

We often travel to Disney World right around the second and/or third week of August.  The crowds are generally a bit thinner than during the peak weeks of July, but with schools in my neck of the woods still out of session for several weeks, they are far from empty.  We find that making use of extra magic morning hours, and visiting the parks early in the morning and in the evenings (with a visit to our resort for a swim, lunch or siesta sandwiched in between) works well and enables us to leave the parks while the crowds and summer sun are at their peak.  I, like you, like to stick some "boredom busters" in my park bag to keep my kids occupied on line.  I have to admit, however, that for some reason, my children are far more patient waiting on the line for Space Mountain than they are at the grocery store back at home!

    Have a magical trip!
