We will be in WDE for race wkd. For those not doing anything with the marathon what are the parks like for attendance and how does it affect the transportation. Especially on Sunday when we have bkfst at the castle?

    Hi Debbie!

Though it may seem like you see runners everywhere, park attendance during marathon weekend is actually very pleasant.  It will range from a 3 out of 10 to 6 out of 10, on park crowd level charts, with 10 being the most crowded.  (www.touringplans.com)

Really, the only day you will notice any traffic issues due to road closures will be on Sunday.  Saturday's half marathon usually ends by 10 a.m. and traffic is back to normal very early.  Sunday's marathon will last a few hours longer.  You can get a road closure schedule from your front desk.  If you are staying on property, then you can hop on a Disney bus and you won't even notice it.  I would leave a little extra time for getting to your breakfast at the castle on Sunday just because the buses won't be using direct routes.

Magic Kingdom is the first park runners go through.   All runners and spectators will be cleared out of the park before it even opens for the day, so you won't have any issues there.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you, and have a magical trip!!
