Welcome aboard, Ed!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney – you've come to the right place to see what’s open, what’s happening, and what’s coming up at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney Water Transportation is my absolute favorite way to navigate around property, so I’m happy to share that
YES, water transportation is open and running to and from Disney Springs for your visit.
Disney Springs is the place to be for the biggest selection of shops, restaurants, and entertainment in one complex at the Walt Disney World Resort. I love that you don’t need a theme park ticket to get a taste of the magic and such a wide variety of flavors, merchandise, and experiences. It has a gorgeous setting nestled among several waterways connecting a few Disney Resort Collection hotels to this oasis. You can access Disney Springs by boat to and from
Disney’s Old Key West Resort,
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort (both
Riverside and
French Quarter).
For the most accurate information when planning your transportation, look no further than your handy
My Disney Experience App as your wayfinding instrument! Open your mobile app and click on the
feature menu (≡), then scroll down to select the
Transportation tile. You can click on
Water Transportation, then
Get Directions to select your “to” and “from” for a current travel time and route recommendations. This is most useful for knowing which color launch to seek when using water transportation and planning your transportation time. Throughout the app, you can also click on
Get Directions from any location page to see options for walking, bus transportation, monorail service, or water transportation. You can even play with this tool at home from your couch as you daydream about sailing along the Sassagoula River into Lake Buena Vista!
Another fun way to be out on the water at Disney Springs is to take a
Vintage Amphicar Tour, launched at The Landing, just outside
THE BOATHOUSE restaurant; you can secure a special roundtrip voyage for up to four people in these authentic one-of-a-kind vehicles. Don’t miss a meal at THE BOATHOUSE if you’re in that area, Ed – while reservations are popular, you can usually walk right up and be seated at the outdoor floating dock surrounded by vintage boats on display! There are shaded tables, a separate bar, full menu, and atmosphere for days at this hidden gem of a dining spot. Boat Drinks are always served up perfectly!
Let us know if you have any other questions – wishing you smooth sailing on your Walt Disney World vacation!
Bon voyage,
Amy
