Thanks for floating on over to planDisney ahead of your visit to
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. I spent a sun and fun-filled day with my family there earlier this summer, and I must say, I'm just a little bit jealous of your upcoming adventure. It's the perfect place to cool down and make memories in the only type of snow I prefer these days- melted!
We noticed the pavement was hot in many areas around the water park (definitely not snowman-approved), so you're smart to be thinking ahead about protective footwear. We jumped between puddles and took the time to cool our feet in the ground-level misters most of the day, but water shoes are on my packing list for our next visit.
I spotted many guests wearing form-fitting water shoes on a lot of the rides, but I reached out to a Cast Member for the official guidance. I spoke with Bonnie, who shared that guests must remove all footwear, including water shoes, on
Slush Gusher and
Summit Plummet. If you decide to visit
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, the same would apply on Bay Slides, Humunga Kowabunga and Storm Slides. Plan to keep your water shoes or Crocs on until it's your turn to make a splash (panelist
Allyn recommends putting them in "sport mode" first), then hold your footwear in your hands with your arms crossed in front of you on the way down. I did this with my sunglasses on Summit Plummet last year so they wouldn't get washed right off my face. You should be free to keep your shoes on during the rest of the day's adventures, but Cast Members will advise of any policy changes on-site.
Once you've indulged in all the thrills Blizzard Beach has to offer, take some time to chill on
Cross Country Creek. This 3,000-foot-long lazy river is my favorite place to relax before setting off in search of snacks and maybe an adult beverage or two. Just stay on the lookout for surprise splashes (and sneezes) along the way.
