Hey Howdy Hey, Rebecca, and welcome to planDisney!
As a fellow Southerner planning a summer visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, I too feel that some places are worth melting for. Of course, as Southerners, we also understand that the warmer summer months will have the Walt Disney World Resort water parks and Disney Resort hotel pools calling to us as the sea calls to Moana, so I'm happy to assist you as you plan your vacation!
Your question is such a great one, Rebecca, because when I first began visiting Walt Disney World Resort both
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park opened simultaneously. In recent years, however, Walt Disney World's water parks have opened on a rotating basis. If past trends hold true, it seems that Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park (which closed on March 17) will not reopen until sometime in November while Disney's Typhoon Lagoon welcomes Guests. Of course, this information is speculative and based solely on previously observed dates, but there have been trends in years past (helpfully compiled by my pal Jason
here) that support this notion.
Although there will only be one water park available during your magical vacation, I think you'll find that there are more than enough
attractions to keep you both entertained and cool during your visit. Personally, I could happily drift along
Castaway Creek all day. I'm also a big fan of spending time at my
Disney Resort hotel pool. I recently enjoyed a stay at Disney's BoardWalk Inn with some dear friends and we loved wrapping up each day with a dip (and slide) in the incredible pool.
I hope this was helpful, Rebecca, and has you ready to dive into the magic of Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any additional questions as you are planning, feel free to
float back by. We're always happy to help!
What can I say except, 'You're Welcome',
Lizzie
