Which water park do you recommend for mother/daughter 40yr/13yr old? Also, are the lines terribly long, since there's no fast pass? We're going in mid-May. thank you!

Hi Lindsey! I am so excited that you are planning a day at the Walt Disney World Water Parks. My family loves the water parks so much that we visit every year. We always have a hard time choosing between the two parks - Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Did you know that a 1-Day Water Park Ticket actually grants you admission into BOTH water parks in the same day? That's right! You can hop between both parks if you really can't decide.

Although you can't go wrong with either park, both feature unique themes and attractions that may make one more appealing to you and your daughter than the other. If you like the idea of a ski resort, but prefer to vacation in sunny Florida, then you might want to check out Blizzard Beach. Are you thrill-seekers? In my opinion, Blizzard Beach is home to the most exhilarating and intense attraction in all of Walt Disney World: Summit Plummet. Its neighboring slide, the Slush Gusher offers an equally fun, but less intense experience. Rounding out our family favorites at Blizzard Beach are Teamboat Springs and Toboggan Racers, both of which have everyone from my five year old son to my his grandparents smiling and splashing all the way down.

If you prefer a water park with lush tropical foliage combined with sounds of the surf, you'll want to visit Typhoon Lagoon. The most unique attractions here are the Crush 'N' Gusher, a coaster-like raft ride, and Miss Adventure Falls, a thrilling voyage aboard a four-person raft. Miss Adventure Falls is my absolute favorite water park attraction. It even features a talking, treasure-hunting parrot! Finally, in addition to some awesome slides, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is the park's signature attraction. Whether you want dive into the action at the deep end or enjoy the spectaclefrom afar, the six foot swells are a sight to see.

Whichever park you choose to visit, I know you'll have a great time. If you're concerned about crowds, I recommend arriving to your park of choice at least fifteen to twenty minutes prior to the scheduled opening to stake out a lounge chair and hit the slides early. Also consider enhancing your day by reserving a private, shaded, seating area. Polar Patios in Blizzard Beach and Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon are wonderful places to unwind, and they include chairs, a cooler and more.

    Surfs up!
