We want to do a water park but we need help. If we can only do one, which one? It's just my husband and I. Thanks!!

    Michele:

Although my favorite water park, hands down, is Blizzard Beach, it's not necessarily the best choice for everyone. It's my recommendation if you enjoy a water park that provides lots of slides, an open sandy beach for laying out, inner tubes for bobbing in the waves and a chairlift to take in a great view of Disney property. It's as if Disney improved on Typhoon Lagoon, including making its group rafting ride longer and its iconic thrill ride Summit Plummet even scarier than TL's Humunga Kowabunga.

Because  it's just the two of you, I will admit that when my husband and I had a day at the water parks for just ourselves and no children, we chose Typhoon Lagoon. If you enjoy a more tropical feel with tamer slides, it might be a good fit. I'm not a fan of all of its vegetation that in the summer can make it feel 10 degrees hotter and definitely more humid than Blizzard Beach but it has a few unique attractions including its Surfing Program (that requires reservations and an additional fee) and the Shark Reef's snorkeling opportunity that's a good first experience in a controlled environment to learn to snorkel. My favorite slide of both parks, Crush 'n' Gusher, actually resides at Typhoon Lagoon but it's usually not enough to make me recommend it to families of pre-schoolers and weak swimmers who I don't think are ready for the park's wave pool.

You'll enjoy either one at the end of the day. It just comes down to whether y'all are active slide riders or want some varied sunny experiences.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
