Welcome to planDisney, Pamela! It looks like you're just about to dive into the magic of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, so let's jump right into your question!
Pamela, with the
complimentary water park admission for Disney Resort hotel guests, my family has been able to explore both
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on separate stays over the last few months, so I'm more than happy to offer some opinions about my favorite way to unwind - floating my day away on a lazy river!
In my experience, both lazy rivers are about the same at each of these water parks, but the one thing I preferred about Typhoon Lagoon was that they offered both inner tubes and half tubes to float your day away. I personally love the half tubes because they're easier to get in and out of and offer a more relaxed experience while keeping your body more submerged (and therefore cooler!) Both lazy rivers offer lots of access points to enter and exit, some shaded areas, and a generally relaxing float otherwise!
I know you said you aren't interested in the thrill rides, so before I let you go, both parks do offer a wave pool, but the
wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is more intense than the wave pool at Blizzard Beach. My teenage daughters loved going head to head against the intense waves, but I preferred to stay closer to shore after experiencing how powerful they were (if you find a pair of sunglasses floating in there, they might be mine!) If you do decide to tackle a slide or two, my favorite at Typhoon Lagoon is the
Crush 'n' Gusher Water Coaster and my favorite at Blizzard Beach is
Teamboat Springs, which is fun for the whole crew!
I hope this helps, Pamela, and I hope you have the very best day floating in the lazy river of your dreams! No matter which destination you choose, jump right in, the water's fine! And come see us again at
planDisney if you have any other planning questions!
Just Keep Floating,
Alison
