Royal Greetings, Lori!
Welcome to planDisney and thanks so much for stopping by with your question. Watching
Happily Ever After, Magic Kingdom Park's current nighttime spectacular, is one of my favorite happy endings to our Disney park day. Few things show magic in real life like when the sky shines bright with all of that pixie dust and the castle changes color right before your eyes. It's like when Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather used their magic, but this time, it's in celebration of all things Disney.
Lori, you can certainly watch the fireworks from the beach of
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and typically you don't have to make a reservation. One thing to note, however, is that on certain holidays and during busier park times like special holiday celebrations, this option may be limited to Resort Guests only as it is a popular spot to watch the spectacular event. You can call the Resort in advance or check with Guest Services at Magic Kingdom so you know before you go.
I recommend heading to Disney's Polynesian Resort on the Monorail from
Magic Kingdom. Definitely go earlier than the start, and treat yourself to a
Dole Whip Float in the souvenir tiki cup from Pineapple Lanai before the big show. This way, you will have time for a treat and can find yourself a good spot on the beach. Afterward, you can take the Monorail back to Magic Kingdom and take a bus to your Resort (unless, of course, you are staying at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or
Disney's Contemporary Resort which you can access on the same Monorail.)
Like Fauna, I just love happy endings! I hope this helps you, Lori. If you have any further questions, stop back and see me here. Remember a dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep, and I hope all of your dreams come true!
Magically Yours,
Keri
