Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney, Monica! We're happy you're here!
Fantasmic! recently returned to Disneyland Park after a two-year hiatus and is now celebrating its 30th anniversary! The show, which takes place on Tom Sawyer Island and looks out over the Rivers of America in Frontierland, follows Mickey Mouse, who dreams he's the Sorcerer's Apprentice from Fantasia. Since this show is a fan favorite amongst many guests, you are smart to think about ways to ensure you get a better view.
Hopefully, you can book a
Premium Package at River Belle Terrace, so you can enjoy a 3-course meal and then remain in your seats on the patio through the first 9:00 PM showing of Fantasmic! Otherwise, you will have two packages to choose from: the
"on-the-go" package at Hungry Bear Restaurant and the Standard Package from River Belle Terrace.
Blue Bayou Restaurant recently reopened and is planning to offer a dining package, but I anticipate that the seating will be on the ground.
The Disneyland website states, "All viewing areas are standing only, with accommodations for guests with disabilities," however, in my experience, many guests sit on the ground in these viewing areas. When I spoke to Guest Services today, they assured me that wheelchair and ECV users are seated at the back of the section, but they're above the people seated in front of them, so they still have a great view. Even if your husband is not using an EVC or wheelchair, I suggest speaking to
Guest Relations in the park about seating accommodations if you end up booking one of these latter packages since chairs are not provided. Plan to arrive at least an hour early to claim a spot. You can make reservations through the Disneyland website, starting 60 days in advance.
The first viewing of Fantasmic! will always be the most crowded, so similar to the advice I give for fireworks and parades, try to watch the last showing at 10:30 PM if you don't end up purchasing a dining package. The show is about 25 minutes from beginning to end. It might be worth considering if your husband can stand for that length of time in the Standby section since it will be considerably less congested.
I hope this helps, Monica! We would love to hear from you again, so please feel free to send in more trip planning questions. See ya real soon!
