We are wanting to come to WDW when we can "get the best of both worlds". We would like to see the parks with & without xmas decorations & parades. In order to do this when would you suggest we visit? You guys are great! Bailie-MO

Hi Bailie!  There are several answers and options for you.  Disney does not publish exact dates for holiday decorations being put up and taken down and that can change from year to year.

We used to love coming the week of Thanksgiving because the day after the holiday it was like a Christmas elf had come over night and transformed the parks into a winter wonderland.  Now they are beginning the decorations much earlier and it's hard to say when that will happen.  Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party has started in past years mid November with the Candlelight Procession starting the weekend after Thanksgiving.  These schedules will not be out for a few months for 2009. Remember the week of Thanksgiving is a busy crowd week.

The other option is to come right before New Years and then stay for that first week of January.  The crowds will be the largest of course at New Years but will thin out dramatically so you will be able to enjoy the parks relatively easy. Tough decision but would probably make the end of December/beginning of January reservation to fit your needs.
