I am wanting to register for the Disney World Marathon in January. Should I call and arrange my hotel stay, tickets, etc. through the package offered or should I just research and plan my own? We have not been to Disney World before....Help!!

    Hi, Heather!

No worries! I am here to help you plan a magical runDisney experience during your first visit to Walt Disney World Resort®. I'm sure you will have a lot of questions as the year progresses, and I'll be here.

To get started, I would get your registration done. The Walt Disney World Marathon is at 70% capacity and I wouldn't want you to miss out on securing your spot. Your registration is something that can be done independently of your other arrangements.

Choosing where to stay is your next task and Disney has accommodations to meet every budget. Select the highlighted link to read all about my favorite Resort Hotels for a race weekend. The great news is no matter where you stay, all on-property resorts are considered host hotels and will be providing transportation to all race activities. When it comes to booking it is much easier to book your room and tickets through the Walt Disney Travel Company, or by calling 1-407-939-irun.

Another option is to look into booking through a runDisney Travel Partner. These travel partners offer great discounts on hotel rooms and theme park tickets. I've used Get Travel several times myself and have always been satisfied. To look into that option, select the REGISTRATION tab on the Walt Disney World Marathon homepage on the runDisney website and then select Travel Providers.

Planning on your own works, too! Here is my advice on saving money if you do book on your own - I think planning is part of the fun and I'm here to help if you want to go that route.

I hope this helps get you started, Heather! Please reach back out to me with any additional questions.
