Hi Autumn, welcome to planDisney!
Bees'll buzz, kids'll blow dandelion fuzz, and you'll be going to Walt Disney World Resort in summer! You've found the right place for all of your trip-planning questions and it would be an honor to share some tips for maximizing the magic on your Disney day.
Disney Genie+ service gives Guests access to
Lightning Lane entrances (similar to the old FastPass lanes) at over 40 attractions throughout the
four theme parks. This service is not currently available for advance purchase with one-day tickets but can be purchased for the same price per person per day as early as midnight the morning of your park day. To do this, you'll open the
My Disney Experience mobile app, click the three small lines at the bottom right of the home screen, click "My Genie Day," and scroll down to the purple banner that says "Get Disney Genie+ for Today." Attractions available for Lightning Lane bookings include several character greeting options as well as the
Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingom park. Working backward, valid admission and park pass reservations are currently required to access Genie's cosmic magical powers so let's get you those tickets!
When purchasing your tickets
online, start by selecting the number of days and the type of ticket. If I had one day to spend at Walt Disney World, I would spend a full day at Magic Kingdom park. You'll then want to consult the
theme park reservation availability calendar before selecting your park day. As of today, all parks are currently available each day in June. After selecting your park day, you'll select the number of tickets for Ages 10+ and Ages 3-9. The next page asks if you want to add on a Memory Maker - One Day purchase. If you're unsure, this can also be purchased at a later date.
When checking out, you'll be asked to link each ticket to a member of your
Family and Friends list in My Disney Experience. Alternately, you can click "Add a New Guest," which means that individual's plans will be managed by you under your account. When selecting your ticket delivery method, consider what you will be using to tap in at park entry. If you plan to use a
MagicBand or download a
MagicMobile pass to your phone, the email option will work just fine. If you'd prefer to use an admission card, I recommend clicking "See More Delivery Options" and selecting a shipping option. This will prevent you from having to wait in line at a ticket window on your park day. After your ticket purchase, your tickets should be automagically linked to your My Disney Experience account, allowing you to make
theme park reservations.
Advance dining reservations can be made
online up to 60 days in advance. I recommend setting an alert on your phone and being online at 6:00 a.m. EST to ensure maximum reservation availability.
Plan magic; planDisney.
