Hi Sheena! Welcome to planDisney.
December is such a great time for a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, with nice weather and so much holiday magic in the air. I'm also planning a vacation with my extended family this December, and can't wait for us to be celebrating the season together in my happy place.
For your party of 9, I recommend staying in a
2-bedroom deluxe villa. My family, my brother's family, and my parents stayed in a 2-bedroom villa at
Disney's Old Key West Resort a few years ago, and it was absolutely perfect. The layout in these rooms can differ from resort to resort, but typically you will find a master bedroom with its own bathroom, a second bedroom with 2 beds, and a sleeper sofa (and sometimes a sleeper chair) in the living room area. This was plenty of space for my family, and we loved having a full kitchen where we could prepare meals. One of my favorite parts was sitting on our balcony enjoying a cup of coffee with a view (hello, Florida skies!) and chatting with my loved ones each morning.
If you use
the search feature on the Explore Resort Hotels tab, you will be able to filter for your party size (including the ages of the children in your party) and dates. Once you see your available options, it's time to consider which is the best fit for your group. Are the children in your party little ones? If so, a Deluxe Villa at
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort might be a great fit, since you can walk to Magic Kingdom Park. Have teens in the group?
Disney's Beach Club Villas are walking distance to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Stormalong Bay is an amazing pool with a great water slide and a lazy river. (And yes, this Canadian happily swims in December at Disney World!) Your friendly planDisney panelists share
our tips for selecting your Disney Resorts Collection hotels in the Panel Extras, which I hope you find helpful.
Once you decide where you'd like to stay, you will be able to book online using the link I shared above. You may also call (407) 939-1936 to speak with a friendly Cast Member - I find they are really helpful in answering questions about the resort hotels as well as logistics about payments, adding theme park tickets, or other questions.
Be sure to read the
Disney Parks Blog as you plan your family vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth. They share lots of news and updates about the
phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as fun features about experiences, treats, and other planning tidbits.
Thanks for stopping by with your question! Please come back and see us if we can answer any other questions as you plan and dream.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
