Hello, I am wanting to do Hoop Dee Doo on my next trip. I will be staying at Grand Floridan and I use a mobility scooter. What will be the easiest way to get to Fort Wilderness using Disney transportation?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Danielle!

Thanks for bringing another great question our way; I’m so glad you find our advice helpful as you plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacations. Like you, I adore staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, and I was just at the fabulous Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue last month so I’m happy to help you figure out these important logistics.

To use Disney’s complimentary transportation, you can take the monorail or walking path from the Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom Park. Then look for the ferry dock, Red Launch, to Fort Wilderness Settlement. This dock is centrally aligned with the Magic Kingdom Train Station as you see the different transportation options at the entrance to the park. The ferry will take you directly to Fort Wilderness and that dock is very close to Pioneer Hall where the famous Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is performed.

Another option is to take an Accessible Minnie Van using the Lyft app on your phone. Lyft is a rideshare service that has partnered with Disney to offer these special private rides in an adorable polka dotted van. There is a fee for these, which you can estimate or practice the process by setting up a ride in your Lyft app at home but not finalizing. You’ll need to first set up a Lyft account if you don’t have one. Within the Lyft app:

    • Click “where are you going” and enter Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa as the Current Location, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort as the Destination.
    • Set your drop-off and confirm pick-up to see the next options.
    • Minnie Van is listed as one of the vehicle and price levels.
    • Scroll down to see the Accessible Minnie Van Option and pricing. (If practicing at home, stop at this step and do not finalize the reservation.)
    • You can repeat these steps onsite to formally book the Minnie Van.

I took a Minnie Van to our Hoop Dee Doo experience recently, and I love this private transportation. They are driven by Cast Members who go above and beyond to keep you comfortable and safe. There are phone chargers inside the vehicle, customized Disney music, and endless information to enhance your trip from your driver as needed. The fully accessible vans are a wonderful option.

You're going to have a rootin’ tootin’ good time at your dinner show, Danielle!  Upon arrival, you check in with a friendly Cast Member to receive your table number and queue up for entrance into Pioneer Hall. You can wet your whistle while you wait with a selection of beverages outside, or there is plenty of shaded seating for your family. We loved the delicious food and the entertainment is outstanding! The performers are so talented, and there’s nothing like a true belly laugh with loved ones sharing a special experience together.

I would plan for one hour in transportation time, no matter your selection, and please time your arrival about thirty minutes prior to your reservation when the doors open. You can return to your Disney Resort Hotel the same way you got to Fort Wilderness or decide to try the other option depending on the weather or your group’s preference.

    See ya real soon!
