We are wanting to go to WDW May or June of 2014. How far in advance can I make package reservations with room, tickets, and dining? And which would be a better time as far as cost and weather or crowds? The last week of May or the first week of June? Thanks!

    Hi, Heather!

I’m glad to hear that you’re dreaming about your next pixie-dusted vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort

You can reserve accommodations at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel up to 499 days in advance by calling (407) W-DISNEY or (407) 934-7639. You will need to book by phone since Guests can currently only book vacations with check-in dates up to and including Dec. 31, 2013 when using the online booking system.

As of now, you’ll only be able to reserve a hotel room, not packages that include extras like park tickets or the Disney Dining Plan, for dates in 2014. You will reserve your room at the 2013 rates should you choose to book now, but when the rates and package details for 2014 are released, which usually happens in the late summer, your rate will be automatically adjusted to reflect the current prices. If you wish, your room-only reservation can be converted into a vacation package after next year’s rates are announced in the coming few months. Advance Dining Reservations for the restaurants of your choice can’t be made until 180 days prior to the start of your vacation.

With the exception of Memorial Day weekend, the last week in May is usually less crowded than the first week in June, when schools begin to go on summer break. My advice would be to begin your trip immediately after the Memorial Day holiday, which will fall on Monday, May 26 in 2014.

I hope this helps, Heather, and that you have a wonderful visit to “The Most Magical Place on Earth” next year. Please feel free to ask me any other questions you may have as you continue to plan!

    Wishing you magic,
