Jambo (hello), Brenda!
How exciting that you have a
Walt Disney World Resort vacation planned for this summer! There’s so much going on to celebrate
many new thrills and
Disney100, you’re going to have a fabulous time. I’m giddy that you asked about the
Starlight Safari, as it’s one of my favorite activities from the
Enchanting Extras Collection – let's talk about it!
This very special tour takes place at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village. You don’t need a theme park ticket, nor do you have to be staying at this resort hotel to participate. You can
reserve this special experience up to 60 days in advance on the Walt Disney World website or the
My Disney Experience App (search “Starlight Safari” to find it on the app). There is a limit to the number of guests per tour, as you will be seated in an open-air safari vehicle with a limited capacity. When you reserve the tour, it will ask for the number of guests in your party. If possible, I suggest trying to book this special event exactly 60 days before your arrival for the best chances of securing a spot. If there isn’t any availability, please keep trying until you arrive on vacation as plans can shift and availability can vary.
From the open-air vehicle, you will be provided with special equipment to observe these amazing safari animals in their habitat at night. Exact animal species and the specific savannas toured may vary, but you are guaranteed to have an incredible time! I learned so much on this adventure as our guide shared stories and taught us new things about the animals, and seeing their behavior with a new lens was something I’ll never forget. As this experience takes place after dark, please be sure to bring an extra layer of clothing, even in the summer.
If you’re planning this evening activity, I recommend reserving dinner at either
Boma or
Sanaa that night too. You can enjoy the authentic African theming and atmosphere of the stunning Animal Kingdom Lodge and be nearby for your Starlight Safari time. I’m not a very adventurous eater but I’ve enjoyed both restaurants as an entry into more exotic tastes from an approachable, Disney-style manner. Please note that Boma is in Jambo House so you can plan for a little extra time and take the short shuttle ride from there to Kidani Village for the safari.
I hope you can reserve this unique adventure on your vacation! Please let us know I you have any additional questions as you finalize your special trip this summer.
Kwaharini (go well), Amy
