Hello I am wanting to find out if I would qualify for a DAS pass? I am a 37 yr old insulin dependent diabetic w/ neuropathy in both feet making it difficult to stand/walk for long periods of time & prefer not to use a wheelchair.

    Hello Serena,

Welcome to planDisney! A springtime visit to Walt Disney World Resort sounds simply divine to me on this cold winter day. I'm sure even you would agree that a day in Walt Disney World is better than anywhere else. Let me see how I can help you!

Disability Access Pass or DAS is a wonderful service that Walt Disney World provides for guests who have difficulty waiting in an extended queue due to a disability. Now, determining if you qualify is done on a case-by-case basis by Cast Members. If you believe that due to your medical condition waiting in a long line would be dangerous or very difficult then let the Cast Member know. It is important to note that if your disability is based on the need to use a wheelchair or scooter then DAS is not going to be provided. Accommodations are made in other ways for that Guest as they wait in the standard queue.

I would also suggest you consider pre-registering for DAS through DAS advance. It can now be done virtually via a live chat between 2 to 30 days before you arrive.  Your medical situation is very personal and Cast Members will not ask what it is but will try to determine if DAS is the best solution for you. Once you get DAS Advance set up with the Cast Member you can even make your first two selections for your Park day during the call!

I don't know if you need to keep your insulin refrigerated but did you know that all of the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and water parks have First Aid Centers that can help with that? They even have a way to properly discard your syringes and other medical waste. Nurses are also available and my family has been so grateful for their kind and quality help when in need.

If DAS does not work out I want to share that I have found success with reducing my wait in lines by purchasing Genie+. I begin making my first reservation at 7:00 AM and then throughout the day. The My Disney Experience App will let you know when you can book your next one and I always make sure to set an alarm so I don't miss the chance to book another Lightning Lane! I always try to book the most popular rides first and if a time has clashed with a dining reservation I speak to Cast Member with the Guest Experience Team located throughout the Park. Look for the people under the big blue umbrellas! You will find that your Park days can move very efficiently while using Genie+. I would not suggest you use DAS and Genie+ but one or the other. They almost function in the same way.

I do hope this helps and you can have a magical vacation!
