Hi Melissa and welcome to the Moms Panel!
I happen to think there isn't a bad time to visit Disney, but the best time can depend on a lot of different factors! I typically think of four things when trying to decide when to visit Walt Disney World. Budget,
Park Hours,
Special Events, and School Calendars. Your family might have different priorities. I have friends who stay away from the summer at Walt Disney World because they think it's too hot. The weather isn't very different from our weather here in North Carolina so we have had some wonderful Disney vacations in late July! Personally, my favorite times to go are in May and in October. The weather is usually beautiful and there are great special events going on!
For reasonable places to stay, check out the
Value Resorts at Walt Disney World. For a family of five at the value resorts, you would need a family suite at the Art of Animation Resort or All Star Music Resort. Two of the
Moderate Resorts, Port Orleans Riverside and the Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, offer rooms for 5. After that, you can choose from the Deluxe Resorts (not necessarily budget friendly, but they do have their benefits.) I do think your family would be amazed at the incredibly themed family suites at the new Art of Animation Resort.
Please let us know if we can help with any other questions. I hope you and your family have a magical vacation!
