I am wanting to book Storytellers breakfast for March 12th but it seems there is no availability anywhere around that date. Has march not opened up yet? thanks

Hey there, Alexia! Welcome to planDisney! Oh boy! Your question caught my attention because Storytellers Cafe just so happens to be my very favorite restaurant at the Disneyland Resort! It's where delicious food meets enchanting stories, a truly magical combination!

Your trip is less than two months away, so you must be putting those final touches on your dream vacation! I'm so glad you're planning ahead, Alexia, because I have some news that might make even Eeyore a bit gloomy—Storytellers Cafe will be pausing its story for a brief refurbishment in March. This temporary closure would likely explain why you're not finding any dining availability on March 12th.

If a character dining experience is what your heart desires, Alexia, don't you worry! There are a couple of other options that might be just the ticket to making your breakfast dreams come true! Over at the enchanting Disneyland Hotel is a whimsical culinary delight—the one and only Goofy’s Kitchen! You can enjoy a multitude of breakfast favorites, including a very unique treat dreamed up by Goofy himself: peanut butter and jelly pizza! Count me in! You may also receive some surprise visits from Goofy’s best pals while you dine. Be sure to bring your camera and your autograph book!

There’s also a unique in-park dining adventure over at Plaza Inn in Disneyland Park! At the Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park event, you can enjoy a buffet-style feast with the one and only Minnie Mouse and her fabulous friends. Like any great Disney character dining breakfast experience, this one checks the box for me: they serve Mickey Waffles! Who can resist a waffle shaped like our favorite mouse? Just a heads up—you’ll need a valid Disneyland Park ticket and reservation if you’ll be dining at Plaza Inn.

Now, Alexia, I realize you had your heart set on Storytellers Cafe, and believe me, I understand! If you chose this restaurant based on its location at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa rather than the availability of a character dining experience, you may be interested in some of the other fantastic options nearby. Also located at the Grand Californian is the delightful GCH Craftsman Grill. It’s open daily for breakfast and offers a wide selection of menu items that will help fuel you up for a day at the parks—you’ll need that energy to conquer the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail! GCH Craftsman Grill also offers lots of grab-and-go options that are perfect for tucking into your backpack for those pick-me-ups throughout your day.

If you’re a hotel guest at the Grand Californian, you can also enjoy a limited-time breakfast buffet at Hearthstone Lounge. This new addition will be available while Storytellers Cafe is closed for refurbishment.

I hope this is helpful, Alexia! I’m sorry that Storytellers Cafe will be closed during your visit, but I’ll put in a call to Mickey to ask if he can speed up the refreshment process with a little extra pixie dust so my pals like you can enjoy Storytellers Cafe soon! In the meantime, I'm wishing you a magical and unforgettable trip!
