Hi. Wanted to upgrade our tickets to Enchant Key Pass but doing it on Disney app won't let me.

    Hi Ruth!

Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for sending this question to us hEAR. I'm happy to be your planEAR today!

I am so sorry that you're having a bit of ticket trouble, Ruth. There are currently two ways to upgrade standard Disneyland Resort Theme Park Admission Tickets to Magic Key annual passes. The easiest is through the Disneyland Mobile App, but the other option is in-person at the ticket booths in The Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. I sadly don't have the proper magic mirror to see what, exactly, is going on with the tickets that you currently have. There are a handful of situations that I can think of where daily admission tickets aren't eligible to be upgraded, but those are usually complimentary passes or tickets that were maybe part of a group sale, etc. If your tickets don't fall into a special one-off category, reach out to Disney through the 'Chat with Us' feature in the Disneyland Mobile App. (Open your Disneyland App and press the button that looks like three stacked lines on the bottom right. In this new screen, 'Chat with Us' is the last rectangle option.)

I can say, Ruth, that there may be a bit of a benefit by not upgrading to a Magic Key until your arrival as upgrading now will impact any Park Pass Reservations that are associated with the tickets that you are trying to apply towards the purchase of a Key. The reason is that there are only so many Park Pass Reservations available to single and multi-day tickets, a certain number for Keyholders, etc, so by switching your ticket you'll also switch which pool your Park Pass Reservation pulls from. The Pro Tip here is to use the tickets you have as they currently are and then upgrade to a Magic Key after 1:00 P.M. (but before 11:59 P.M.) on their last day of use. (So if you have a 3-day ticket, upgrade on day three. But if you have a Park Hopper ticket, no matter how many days, wait to upgrade until after park hopping hours begin on your last Disney Day.)

I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to provide more assistance today, Ruth. But I hope that this helped a bit. And I hope that you're starting to count down the days you have left until Disneyland! And if you have any more Disneyland Resort planning questions, We're All Ears!
