If I wanted to upgrade my annual pass would I need to make a down payment with the difference of the upgraded pass?

Hi there Lori, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks so much for stopping by with your question. It sounds like you're already making the most of your Walt Disney World experience, and I’m thrilled to hear you're thinking about upgrading your Annual Pass. Choosing the right pass for your needs can add so much flexibility and magic to your visits, whether you're planning spontaneous park days or soaking in the seasonal events throughout the year.

When you upgrade your Walt Disney World Annual Pass, you typically do not need to make a new down payment. If you're upgrading while your current pass is still active, you simply pay the difference in price between your existing pass and the upgraded one. This is a one time charge and does not change your existing monthly payment plan if you are using one. That monthly plan will continue as it is, and the upgrade cost is paid separately.

If you are upgrading during your renewal window, usually around your pass anniversary, you also do not need to make a new down payment. The upgraded pass is simply folded into your renewal, and your payment schedule will reflect the new pass tier moving forward.

If you are converting standard theme park tickets into an Annual Pass, the full value of your unused tickets can be applied toward the cost of the pass. You would then pay the remaining difference. This transaction must be done in person at Guest Relations and must happen before the last day of your valid ticket.

In all of these cases, Disney does not require an additional down payment when you upgrade. You either pay the price difference outright or continue with your regular monthly billing if you’re on a payment plan.

Lori, I hope this information helps as you explore your options for upgrading your Annual Pass and planning even more magical moments at Walt Disney World Resort. Thank you again for visiting planDisney, and don’t hesitate to stop by with any more questions. Wishing you magic and memories on every visit!
