Hello! I wanted to plan a trip for Magic Kingdom from December 31st for the new year’s show to January 1st. But tickets aren’t showing up for December 31st for Magic Kingdom. Will there still be a possibility to purchase tickets?

Hey Howdy Hey Alina and welcome to planDisney!

There is no better place to ring in the New Year than doing so with a bit of Magic in the Disney Parks. While this can be a great option, this is also one of the busiest times to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. If you want to experience the Magic of the parks to ring in the New Year, you may still be able to with some planning.

Alina, as you mentioned, it looks like if you wanted to purchase theme park tickets for only 1 day to visit only 1 park, you are unable to select either Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. Both of these parks will have special celebrations to ring in the New Year and are popular destinations for just this occasion. If you want to plan a day in the parks during New Year's Eve and Day, you may be able to do this using the ticket validation dates.

When you go to purchase your theme park tickets, as long as you plan to purchase multiple days in the parks, you can start with the validation date beginning December 30th. Depending on the amount of tickets purchased, will determine the validation period. If buying 2-day tickets, you will have 4 days from the initial selection date for your tickets to be valid, 3-day tickets will have a 5-day validation period and so on. So if you purchase a 2-day ticket with 1 park per day, you will select the validation period to start on December 30th and you will have until January 2nd to use your tickets.

Currently, it looks like this might be your best bet to get into the parks on New Year's Eve. If you do end up purchasing the tickets, make sure you get to the parks early. As stated earlier, these are busy times in the parks and the most likely time the parks may reach capacity limitations and stop letting Guests in the parks. Make sure you are ready for a full park day and a Magical celebration like no other to ring in the New Year!

I hope this scenario works out for you and you can experience the Magic of the parks for this spectacular celebration. Let us know if you have any other questions, we are always happy to help!
