Hi, Rebekah! Thank you for visiting planDisney with your question.
Most Walt Disney World merchant and dining locations still accept Traveler's Checks, and you may also cash them the
Front Desk or
Lobby Concierge of your
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel with valid ID. However, many financial institutions have started shying away from paper Traveler's Checks and instead offer prepaid, reloadable travel money debit cards you may find more convenient. I purchased one of these myself for my son when he visited Walt Disney World Resort with his high school band, and it worked beautifully for him. It was also an excellent way for me to keep an eye on his spending.
Alternatively, you may purchase Disney Gift Cards, which are accepted all throughout Walt Disney World Resort. You can buy them at many local retailers in your area or directly from the
Disney Gift Card website. Purchasing through Disney online offers a vast assortment of fun designs, and you can also use the website to keep track of balances and transfer money between cards. It is also an easy way to stick to a budget. You can have a Princess themed gift card for souvenirs and a Donald Duck gift card for food. I usually purchase a different gift card for each of my boys for their own spending money, so there is no confusion on whose card is whose or they can not accuse each other of getting more money than the other. It is great!
Have a magical day, Rebekah!
