Season’s greetings, Brittany, and a very merry welcome to planDisney!
One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to drive around and check out holiday light displays, and I can’t think of anything more magical than the beautiful holiday decorations throughout the
Disneyland Resort! I did some research to try to find the article you are referring to, and I think I found it! After reading it, I believe the article was mentioning two different things, including the expansion of
Downtown Disney District to
Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park, in addition to a drive-thru experience that is currently underway at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Unfortunately, the Disneyland Resort isn’t currently offering a drive-thru light experience. However, if you’re heading to Southern California anytime soon, I have plenty of Disney fun to share with you! Even though the Disneyland Resort theme parks and Resort Hotels are currently closed, I’m happy to report that the Resort has begun a
phased reopening, and Downtown Disney District is currently open! And now, even more Disney dining and shopping opportunities are available since Buena Vista Street
reopened in November! My children and I recently visited Downtown Disney District, and absolutely loved seeing the festive holiday decorations and photo opportunities. It felt so amazing to experience a taste of Disney holiday magic once again!
Tickets aren’t necessary for entering Downtown Disney District, but if you’re planning a visit on a weekend, I highly recommend making a dining reservation ahead of time. A reservation will give you priority access to the Simba Parking Lot, even when parking is temporarily paused. Here’s a list of the
dining options that are currently available, along with a list of which restaurants
are currently accepting reservations.
Carthay Circle Lounge has also started accepting reservations for Alfresco Dining. Don’t miss stopping by
Marceline’s Confectionery to pick up some delicious holiday treats, too! Just keep in mind that a mobile wait list system may be used at times to help manage social distancing within various shops throughout Downtown Disney District.
For the official scoop on theme-park reopening news, I recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog,
Disneyland.com, and the
Disneyland app.
I hope this helps, Brittany! Wishing you a pixie-dusted, joyous holiday season!
